About Norman Ortiz

Norman Ortiz has worked as a freelance pianist and teacher in the Bay Area since 1984. Mr. Ortiz received his Bachelor of Arts degree in music from the University of California at Santa Barbara, a Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a Certificate of Advanced Study from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London, specializing in collaborative piano. Mr. Ortiz has collaborated with musicians on stages in London, Moscow (Tchaikowsky Competition), Zürich and San Francisco. He spent two seasons cueing supertitles for the San Francisco Opera, and he has performed with the chorus of the renowned Bracebridge Dinner of Yosemite. Though music remains his main love and interest, Mr. Ortiz also has a background in computer software, having worked as a software specialist and trainer for PG&E. Following three years working as the general manager of the Music Teachers’ Association of California, Mr. Ortiz moved to Vallejo where he established his piano studio. In addition to his teaching, Mr. Ortiz is both music director and organist at First Presbyterian Church in Vallejo.
